Agrex Ltd has been created in 1986 in order to endorse the promotion and sales of the horticultural products of ENL
Flowers and Foliages
One of the first missions assigned to the company was to put in place a marketing and distribution strategy for Anthurium & Orchids Ltd and Soled Ltd, two companies which were already engaged in the production of Anthurium flowers and Orchids for the last 25 years.
The experience has been very successful and Agrex has acquired over the years a worldwide reputation in the Anthurium fresh cut flower business as a result of its well thought marketing approach, its quality and its reliability.
The company owns today an extended portfolio of customers on both local and foreign markets. About 300 000 Anthurium stems are sold every year on the local market and around 1 000 000 are exported to wholesale distributors based in 8 different countries (Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, France, USA, Canada, Dubai and Reunion Island).
Thanks to its vision and wise investments in the most exclusive varieties, the team has been able to develop a competitive edge and is proud to offer one of the world's widest choice of Hybrid Anthuriums' colors and shapes with more than 40 different varieties.
Due to its rich experience in the floriculture business Agrex is now also promoting on the local market the roses produced by Savannah under the brand "Les Roseraies de Savannah".
In the same vision of expanding its offer, Agrex has also advised the other companies of the Agribusiness cluster to make additional investments in the production of other species of exotic flowers as well as in foliages.
Indoor and Outdoor plants
Both Savannah and MDA have put in place plants nurseries in order to respond to the requirements of esp landscapers, the ENL Agribusiness landscaping arm.
Agrex is presently exploring the local market potential for indoor and outdoor plants and thus, opportunities for export in the gulf region will be studied.
Palm tree heart
The management of ENL Agribusiness strongly believes in the business potential for fresh palm tree heart.
Also know has "palmito" in some countries, the fresh palm tree heart is a vegetable harvested from the inner core and growing bud of certain palm trees. This is a very exclusive product because harvesting the palm heart kills the tree. It is a main ingredient often used in fine cuisine restaurants. The most simple dish made from palmito is a fresh salad also known as the Millionaires' salad.
Savannah has already grown 50 000 palm trees on its land and these trees will arrive at maturity in a few months. Agrex is getting prepared and will soon start to market this delicacy in the restaurants and hotels around the Island. |
