Agrex Ltd has been created in 1986 to drive the sales and marketing of ENL's horticultural products. Over the years, this company has acquired a worldwide reputation in the fresh cut anthurium flower trade due to its well thought marketing approach, the quality of its products and the reliability of its services.
Every year, about 300,000 anthurium stems are sold locally and around 1,000,000 stems are exported to wholesale distributors based in 8 different countries (Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, France, USA, Canada, Dubai and Reunion Island). The Agrex team proudly proposes one of the world's widest choices of Hybrid Anthuriums, both in terms of colours and shapes, with more than 40 different varieties on offer.
Agrex is promoting other ornamentals on the local market. It is working in close collaboration with sister companies in order to broaden the spectrum of exotic flowers and foliages produced within ENL Agribusiness so that it can in turn strengthen its offer.
Decorative plants
The estates of Savannah and MDA have both invested in plant nurseries in order to respond to the requirements of esp landscapers in terms of decorative plants. Agrex is presently exploring the local market potential for indoor and outdoor plants. It is also envisaging exports in the Gulf region.
Palm heart
Also known as palmito in some countries, the palm heart is the inner core and growing bud of certain palm trees. This is a very exclusive product as harvesting the palm heart means killing the tree. It is an ingredient often used in fine cuisine. The simplest dish made from palmito is a fresh salad also known as the Millionaire's Salad.
Savannah currently grows 50 000 palm trees. Palm hearts are marketed by Agrex in restaurants and hotels around the Island.
