Luxury hotels and villas, championship golf, preserved nature reserve, restaurants and wellness facilities galore... La Compagnie Sucrière de Bel Ombre (CSBO) is carefully growing the authentic South-West of Mauritius into a signature sub-destination on the island.
Bel Ombre and the South West of Mauritius have changed from an agricultural neighbourhood into a signature resort in a matter of two decades. This transformation has been spearheaded by CSBO, historically the main economic agent in the area.
The high-end Heritage Villas Valriche Integrated Resort, the Heritage Golf Club as well as the Heritage Nature Reserve and Lodge are all situated on the estate, on 2,258 hectares stretching between the Black River Gorges and the lagoon further down. CSBO has driven the sustainable development of luxury hotels and leisure activities in the area, providing employment to many in the region and preserving the surrounding natural environment.
CSBO also manages Case Noyale Ltd’s 1,137-ha property which is home to some landmark tourist attractions, including the Seven Coloured Earth and Le Chamarel restaurant. The estate is still engaged in some agricultural activity, growing and processing the Café Chamarel, the only locally produced coffee brand.
The region is promised to further developments that should confirm its positioning as a premium destination.
