Making every drop count – Insights from a Nabridas expert on water storage

As the years pass, our tiny island is reminded every summer of the importance of water. Droughts are now more and more common, and our reservoirs are scarcely full. The best way to face this is to be adequately equipped. Through their diversification and their water engineering division, Nabridas have become water storage specialists. Giovanni Leopold, Factory Supervisor at Nabridas kindly answers our burning questions and gives us his experts’ advice.

Giovanni, what are some simple ways households can use water more wisely and reduce their expenses?

One of the best things you can do is collect rainwater. It is free and perfect for tasks like watering your garden, washing your car, or even cleaning your floors. To help you optimise your rainwater collection capacity, we provide a compact, vertical rainwater tank, available in 500L and 750L capacities and equipped with a head filter that keeps out leaves and debris. Its slim design makes it perfect for homes with limited outdoor space, which allows them to be installed just about anywhere around the house.

It is also worth knowing just how quickly water adds up, a five-minute shower, for example, can use up to 60 litres. Small changes and smart equipment can go a long way in managing water wisely and cutting down on your utility bills.

What happens when we do not use water efficiently at home or on a larger scale?

The impact is more serious than many people realise. When we waste water, we put extra pressure on already limited resources. Our reservoirs often run low, and that leads to restricted water distribution from the Central Water Authority (CWA), especially in certain areas.

In agriculture, the consequences are even more direct. Without careful management, farmers may struggle to irrigate their fields, which affects crop production and, ultimately, our food supply. So, whether it is at home or in the fields, water efficiency is key to long-term resilience.

For someone ready to invest in a water tank, what should they look out for?

Start by figuring out how much water your household needs, bigger families will obviously need more storage. Then, check where you can install the tank. Is there space on the ground or would it need to go on the roof?

You’ll also want to think about water pressure. If the mains do not deliver enough, a pump might be necessary. And of course, price matters—but so does value. Look at what is included, like delivery, installation support, or warranties. It is worth investing in something that will last and work reliably over time.

What makes Nabridas tanks different from the others on the market?

We are proud of the quality we deliver. Our tanks are made right here in Mauritius using virgin, food-grade polyethylene, which means they are safe, durable, and hygienic. Each tank is manufactured as a single, seamless piece to reduce the risk of leaks or structural weaknesses.

They are also independently tested and certified to meet MS 179 standards. One feature that really sets them apart is the corrugated wall design, as it adds strength and helps the tanks withstand impact. Our standard tanks can store up to 9,000 litres. Add to that our competitive pricing and solid after-sales service, and we believe we offer something truly dependable.

So, if you are thinking about long-term water solutions for your home, now is the time to act, and with the right equipment and a few good habits, you can make every drop count.
